Exercises for MMA
Not always running long distances is the best way to train for your fights, we have other exercise systems that can help you, but be careful! It is useless to do all that if you do not eat well and take your good protein shakes.
Exercises to improve your performance.
Squats: this consists of doing push-ups simulating that you are sitting in the air, so that you strengthen your legs to give a good kick.
Dead Weight: Strengthens the legs by carrying weight. Recommended not to perform this exercise if you suffer from spinal column.
Bench strength or bench press: strengthen your arms and pecs, but you must maintain your agility, so that you become a fighting machine.
Power Loaded: it consists of carrying from the ground and squatting weight and you can do it with dumbbells, barbells and any other weight.
Sprints: for this you must move your body in an acceleration race and thus move your body for 5 minutes.
Stretching: you should stretch your muscles very well and calmly.
Squats and deadlifts in particular are exercises that historically help you gain the most muscle in the shortest amount of time, add weights for more muscle. Circuits should only be done 1 or 2 times per week. The other days should be spent lifting weights.
Weights are Important, Even for Weight Loss
In the old days it was believed that lifting weights would make you slower and clumsier in the ring.
No breaks between training sessions.
When you are training you should always keep your body moving. Don't take long breaks, or worse, don't sit on a cold surface. Your body should stay warm and ready for the next round. You will avoid injury and your muscle will be in perfect condition to develop for the duration of the session.
Training every day is not good, nor too many hours a day. Your body will be healthier and build muscle faster with 15 to 30 minute workouts, 1 or 2 times a day. You should only train 3 or 4 days a week with rest days in between.
Varies Training
Don't forget, mixed martial arts is a set of martial arts; so should be your physical training, a mix of weights, gymnastics, cardio, Tabata, circuits, calisthenics, etc. Vary the exercises, they all have a little bit of the same base and they will all burn fat, gain muscle and make you more skilled. But by varying your body will become smarter and work a greater number of muscles. You will see the difference in the ring.
