IOC threatens to exclude boxing from Tokyo Games
The Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has acknowledged that she is "not satisfied" with the report prepared by the International Boxing Association (AIBA) on her governance, finance, arbitration and anti-doping issues and could therefore exclude the sport from the next Olympic Games.
IOC President Thomas Bachexplained that the organization is "extremely concerned" about the drift of the sport. "The IOC reserves the right to review the inclusion of boxing in the programs of the 2018 Youth Olympic Games and Tokyo 2020."said after the IOC Executive Board meeting in Pyeongchang, where the Olympic Winter Games will be held this month.
Among other measures, the IOC has confirmed that it has proceeded to the opening of an investigation into AIBA governance by the IOC's Director of Ethics and Compliance, in addition to assuring that it has suspended financial payments. In addition, it has frozen "all contacts" with AIBA, "except those at the working level necessary to implement the respective IOC decisions."
On the other hand, he explained that have requested a new report by April 30, 2018.and that it reserves the right to "review the inclusion of boxing in the 2018 Youth Olympic Games and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games".

This is not the first time AIBA has had IOC funds blocked. The Olympic body withheld payment of more than $1 million from the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens following an arbitration scandal at those Games.
